Sunday afternoon hike

On sundays I tend to get a little cabin fever and want to go somewhere. So a few weeks ago we packed a picnic and did one of my favorite short hikes up to a small waterfall.

I love this hike because it is not very long and the hike is pretty flat so everyone can do it. When you get to the waterfall you can walk right up to it.

Apparently if you are a boy you have to stick your head in the waterfall

Hey! Guess what Nick if you stick your head in a waterfall you will get wet.

Uncle Kyle and Zack are checking out
the back side of water. It must have been pretty cool
look at that smile.

If you are looking for a short family hike this is a good one. You just go up Provo canyon and turn like you are taking the alpine loop. After Sundance there is a station where you have to pay to get into the canyon, just after this there is a parking lot. Park here and follow the signs for the timpanogos hike. If you were to keep following this trail you would go all the way to the top of timp. If is pretty flat untill the last little part.

What? You went where without your kids!

While my mom was in California for Casey's wedding reception they went to Disneyland. Turns out that a 3 day pass was about the same price as a 1 day pass, so they bought 3 day passes and only used 1 day. When she got home my mom needed someone to go back with her and use the other 2 days. Since my birthday was that month she thought it would be fun if we just went. We then talked Grandma into going with us. So me, my mom, and my grandma all jumped on a plane and went to Disneyland. I have to admit that I had a great time. At the end of the first day I found these shirts and thought that we all should have matching shirts and wear them the next day. I did miss my children. Disneyland is not quit the same without getting to see their excited faces, that will have to wait until next time. This time it was just the girls. Thanks Mom I had a great time.

4th of July

This 4th of July I decided that we needed to get back to going to the Provo parade. We always went when I was younger and I have great memories of going. It's just what you did on the 4th. So I decided that we were going to sleep out on the side of the road to save out spot. Provo citys rules were that you could not set out any stuff untill 3:00 the day before the parade. We went down at 1:00 thinking that there would still be plenty of spots available. Little did we know that the real die hard parade gowers were there at like 8:00. You have to understand that you are not even allowed to go across the side walk to the place where you would want to sit until 3:00 so all these people are just siting behind the sidewalk waiting for hours. So since I was there we decieded we better hang out. We got one of the few spots left and just sat. I had all for children with me

Here they are just waiting around

Anyway we did get a great spot and the waiting wasn't to bad. We did go home for awhile and then the fun part came. Its not everyday you can just set up a tent and sleep on the side of the road in downtown Provo.

(Doug actually ended up taking Lacey home and coming back later the next morning.)
Party Pooper
So since I was awake anyway.(you would not believe how noisy people can be) I decided that we needed to go see the hot air ballons. I woke everyone up at 6:00 and we walked over. It really is amazing to see all the ballons.

Then came the parade. Since I had saved a spot we had lots of family show up. It was great I loved having them all there with us. In the middle of the parade it started to rain just for a few minutes. It was nice and cooled everything off.

Here some pictures of the Parade.

I love this one of Zack trying to
catch the rain in his mouth

Our new cousin Austin

On June 29th we got a new cousin. Austin Lee Pearson was born. Its always fun to get to have a new baby around. Especially when we get to play with him and them give him back.

Everybody wanted to hold him. How could you resist he is such a cutie.

I love how intently they are listening to the rules of holding a new baby.
(I wish I could get them to listen this good all the time)

Recently Lacey has been into the Baby thing she just loved seeing a real baby. She wanted to hold him the whole time. She looks so sweet here, a future mother in the making.

However a new baby will only entertain boys for so long. I wasn't done visiting and so Nick and Zack started playing with my camera. Here is what I later found. What a bunch of Goofballs.

Welcome to the family Austin. You are adorable

Summer Baseball

Last year was Nick's first year playing baseball. He really enjoys it. Last year his team took second place in his division. This year they took 4th. Nick has got a powerful swing. If we can just get him to connect with the ball everytime, he can be the next Babe Ruth. Good job on the great season Nick.

Family Boat Race

There is a park by out house that has a little stream in it and every time I have driven by I think, wouldn't it be fun to make boats and race them down that stream. So a few Sundays ago I invited the family over and that is what we did. We gathered some supplies(Popsicle sticks, hot glue and some random things that were hanging around the house) and we all started building.

Building the boats
Dad and Zack

Uncle Tony, Uncle Kyle, Grandma, and Nick

Once we all got our boats built we went to the park to get ready to race

On your Mark! Get Set! Go!
Once we launched our boats we ended up with lots of spectators

We did 3 official races and had different winners every time, so everyone was a winner!!!
After the races all we wanted to see if putting bottle rockets in the boats would make them go faster. I am not sure this was the best idea, however it was lots of fun. We really just ended up blowing every ones boat up!
Here is Zacks boat after the explosion

Manti Pageant

Every year we go to the Manti Pageant. We reserve the same camping spot and a few extra spots and take whoever will go with us. We always have lots of fun. This year we had lots of people come. Every year Dougs niece's family the Rock's come. Our new friends and neighbors the Browers, our old friends and neighbors the Parson and the Clements, our older friends and neighbors the Wilkerson came. My sister Mary and Tony came also however since she was 39 weeks pregnant they didn't end up spending the night. We always do the same things while we are there and I love that we don't have to plan anything. We eat dinner at the same restaurant (I don't even know the name of it we just call it the Greasy Spoon), and we go swimming, then we go to the pageant. We have been going for at least 8 years and I hope that it remains a tradition forever. We will have to wait and see. Thanks everyone for coming and making it a great trip. Everyone is welcome to come the more the merrier so put it on your calender for next year and join us.

After a fun day we are all looking a little bit sunburned and tired
